Single Visit Crowns

Single Visit Crowns in Honolulu, HI

You know you need to do something about that cracked tooth. Leaving damaged teeth untreated will only cause worse issues; however, we also know that many people don’t want to sit in the dental chair for hours or have to come back and forth to our practice to get a dental restoration. Now, Dr. William Lee and his team here in Honolulu, HI, can restore your damaged smile in just a single dental visit.

What is a single-visit crown?

Single-visit crowns, more commonly referred to as CEREC crowns, are ceramic tooth-shaped caps that are just like traditional crowns. The only difference is that unlike dental crowns, which take 2-3 separate appointments to place, you can get a CEREC crown in just one appointment. Single-visit crowns are used in the same manner as a traditional crown. A single-visit crown can be used to,

  • Preserve what’s left of a tooth’s natural structure
  • To stabilize a broken or cracked tooth
  • To repair a damaged tooth
  • To strengthen and reinforce a weak tooth or a tooth that just underwent root canal therapy
  • To hold a dental bridge in place
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To correct and esthetically improve a discolored or poorly shaped tooth

What is involved in getting a single-visit crown?

When you turn to Dr. Lee and his team for a CEREC crown, the whole process occurs in our office while you wait (don’t worry; you don’t have to wait very long). We will snap quick digital impressions of your teeth using a handheld device (that’s right, no more messy impressions and molds thanks to CEREC’s advanced technology!). Then we will upload these digital images to the computer. These images will be turned into 3D images and our computer software will help us map out and create the perfect crown.

Once this is complete, this information will be set from the computer to a milling station. We will go through a shade guide to choose the appropriate shade of ceramic for your crown based on the shade of the rest of your smile. From there, the milling station will take only minutes to chisel out your crown from the ceramic block. Then we will check the fit of the new crown before cementing it in place over the tooth.

What makes single-visit crowns so ideal is that you can come in and walk out with a brand-new crown. CEREC helps us streamline the process, so we don’t have to wait weeks for a dental lab to create your new crown. Plus, there are no temporary crowns needed, which is a major benefit.
